These are sincere works that unite people, because art speaks a universal language that is close to everyone," said Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Sergey Pershin.
"Kartina Mira Competition was organized to support talented young artists. Artists from different countries, different continents took part in it. They responded with enthusiasm to our call to create socially significant works of art connected with historical tradition, but directed to the future. It was important for us to support classical art education, academies, institutes, schools, lyceums, colleges. The world is changing rapidly,"Semyon Mikhailovsky, Co-Chairman of the Competition’s Creative Council, Rector of St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts named after Ilya Repin, comments on the results, "it is becoming more diverse. We saw interesting works by Russian participants representing national republics, regions; we felt the creative energy of artists from Asia and Africa.
