"This trip made my dream come true": The exhibition of finalists of the International Competition KARTINA MIRA comes to an end in Samara

On July 23, the State Tretyakov Gallery branch finishes the exhibition of works by finalists of the second season of the International Competition for Young Artists KARTINA MIRA. Over 16,000 people visited the final exhibition in Samara during its work. For a month, residents and visitors alike were treated to unique works by artists who presented a wide range of national traditions in a single space, according to the competition organizers.

The exhibition brought together creative projects by young artists representing different continents and cultural schools. Fifteen finalists from 11 countries presented their works. Visitors were able to see paintings that reflected the project’s key idea — an understanding of national values, the continuity of generations, and local identity. The exhibition demonstrated strong public interest in contemporary youth art. The artists themselves shared their impressions of participating in the project and the opportunity to exhibit at such a significant venue.
"Participating in the competition is a great honor for me to present my work alongside incredibly talented people from all over the world, artists who explore the values ​​of each nation through their paintings. We have been given the amazing opportunity to exhibit our works at the Tretyakov Gallery in Samara, one of the museums with the most important collections in the world. This is a major step in my artistic career. The opportunity to receive international recognition and public feedback opens new horizons for personal and artistic growth. I am very grateful to KARTINA MIRA for this opportunity," shared Angie Vega, a finalist from Colombia.
Oroni Hossain Othoi, a finalist from Bangladesh, also emphasized the unique atmosphere of dialogue and the warm welcome from the Russian public:
"Participating in the International Art Competition KARTINA MIRA was a truly meaningful experience for me. It gave me the opportunity to share part of Bangladesh’s artistic and cultural identity and meet talented artists from around the world. I am deeply grateful to the organizers for creating a platform that fosters cultural dialogue through art.

The warm welcome from the organizers and the Russian public made this trip truly unforgettable. It reminded me that, although we come from different countries and have different traditions, art gives us a common language."
Moreover, the competition strengthened the status of the Samara branch of the Tretyakov Gallery as a major center of intercultural interaction.
"Samara is a beautiful city with an ancient character and rich Russian culture. Exhibiting my work at the Tretyakov Gallery was a truly unforgettable experience for me. At the awarding ceremony, I was very surprised by the public’s attention to the competition. Many journalists came to interview me. It was my first experience interacting with reporters and appearing on television. The trip to Russia made my dream come true: I was able to see true masterpieces by great Russian artists like Vrubel, Repin, and Serov… It gave me even more motivation to create. I’m thrilled to share this inspiration with young Vietnamese artists, hoping they too will have the opportunity to visit beautiful Russia," said Cao Dai Luong, a young Vietnamese artist and winner of the special nomination "Inspired by Russian".
The next stage for the project will be the presentation of the works to a wide international audience. In September, the artists' paintings will be exhibited in Ekaterinburg as part of the International Festival of Youth. This will allow to continue the development of cultural dialogue and introduce the participants of the large-scale youth forum to the work of the finalists.

The exhibition in Samara was held at the branch of the State Tretyakov Gallery — a unique museum space housed in a constructivist landmark. The branch actively supports initiatives aimed at discovering new talent and creating conditions for professional networking among creative communities from around the world.
