On November 4, Russia celebrates an important holiday dedicated to one of the fateful days in the history of its people, i.e. the National Unity Day. Exactly 412 years ago, there was a turning point in the history of our state: one right decision had to be made, we had to choose our way, our destiny, to dare to fight for our identity and independence.
It was the time when the authenticity of our people was determined. Representatives of different estates and faiths participated in the liberation of the Russian land. The events of those days have greatly influenced the formation of our modern nation.
Many artists dedicated their works to the famous people’s militia led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky, including "Expulsion of the Poles from the Kremlin" by Ernest Lissner, "Minin's Proclamation" by Konstantin Makovsky, "Citizen Minin" by Mikhail Nesterov, "Kuzma Minin" by Ilya Repin and many others.
The theme of the Competition for Young Artist Kartina Mira is — "The Values of my Nation as part of the Global Human Culture",
closely resonates with the holiday being celebrated. In their works, competition participants may tell about the authentic history of their ancestors or significant events in their lives, reflect the influence of culture and traditions of the people on their present and future.
