Young artists from 18 countries applied for participation in the International Competition for Young Artists "Kartina Mira"

Organizers note the high interest in the competition and the artistic diversity of the participants' works. As a reminder, the call for applications closes as early as March 1, 2025.

The vast geography of the submitted applications confirms the international status of the competition:

artists from Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Georgia, USA, Afghanistan, Uganda, Kyrgyzstan, Abkhazia, Iran, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Indonesia, Algeria, Thailand, Uruguay, Senegal, and Rwanda have already joined the "Kartina Mira" competition. A significant part of applications from the Russian Federation consists of works created by participants from the Central and Far Eastern Federal Districts, the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Chechen Republic, the Republic of Dagestan, the Republic of Ingushetia and the Komi Republic.
The competition was initiated by Innopraktika. The competition is jointly organized by the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Saint Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts named after Ilya Repin supported by the Meganom Academy of Creative Industries. The project is sponsored by Gazprombank.
General Director of the State Tretyakov Gallery Elena Pronicheva emphasized the high significance of the competition for the development of the Tretyakov Gallery and the professional community of young artists:
"The international competition of young artists "Kartina Mira" is an important, priority, strategic direction for the Tretyakov Gallery, which, we hope, will eventually allow us to form a professional community around us and understand in what direction not only the art school, but also contemporary art in general is moving today, what the authors want to talk about. One of the significant results of the competition will be the opening of a large exhibition project in Kaliningrad as part of the Cantata music festival. "Kartina Mira" is a very interesting field, both from a professional point of view and from the general public. We hope that such a competition will become part of the systematic work of the Tretyakov Gallery," said Elena Pronicheva at a press conference on January 23.
The Expert Council will evaluate the works of young artists who applied for the competition in three categories: Painting, Graphics and Digital Art, Computer Graphics And Animation.

The main conditions are that the work should be created specifically for the Competition and correspond to its theme — "The values of my people as part of the global culture of humanity".

Anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 can try their hand — whether they are a professional artist or an amateur.

The winners will be determined in three stages

Representatives of the Youth Creative Council will select 100 entries that meet the competition requirements. From these submissions, the competition’s Creative Council will select the 50 best entries to be shortlisted for the competition. On the basis of the ranking voting, 14 finalists will be chosen whose works will be presented at the exhibition in the branch of the Tretyakov Gallery in Kaliningrad within the 5th Cantata International Classical Music Festival.

You can apply for the competition on the official website until March 1, 2025.
