From early childhood, Soohyun Ryu loved stories that come to life through digital art. Her family’s story influenced significantly on her artistic development: the artist is a descendant of the renowned Korean politician and military strategist of the Joseon Dynasty, Ryu Seong-ryong.
A significant part of the artist’s practice is the reinterpretation of Korean history in a global context, as well as the search for connections between ancient traditions and modernity. Her art seeks to present culture as a living and continuously evolving flow that connects the past and the future.
