Finalists of the International Competition for Young Artists Kartina Mira have been determined

On April 28, First International Competition for Young Artists Kartina Mira published its results. At the third stage of selection, after the rating voting, the Creative Council of the Competition determined 14 finalists whose works will be presented at an exhibition at the Tretyakov Gallery branch in Kaliningrad. The event will be held in June 2025 as part of the V International Festival of Classical Music “Kantata”.

The theme of the competition – “Values ​​of My Nation as Part of the Global Human Culture” – attracted a lot of attention from artists and art lovers. The competition collected 1,447 original works from 65 countries.

The finalists include representatives of various countries and artistic movements, whose works reflect a wide range of contemporary art. The works demonstrate the depth of thought, skill and originality of young artists from all over the world. Nine works in the Painting nomination, three works in the Graphics nomination and two works in the Digital Art nomination reached the final. The exhibition will feature paintings by artists from the USA, Libya, Turkey, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Vietnam, China and Russia.
"Kartina Mira Competition is, without exaggeration, a springboard for a quick start in the professional environment. Try one’s hand, feel one’s creative power, not be afraid to show oneself and attract attention - for many, participation has become a serious step forward," shared Sergei Novikov, Chief of the Presidential Directorate for Social Projects, Co-Chairman of the Competition’s Creative Council.
The international status of the Kartina Mira Competition opens up excellent opportunities for the development of cultural diplomacy: dialogue in the language of art helps to form a modern international community, get to know other cultures and exchange experiences.
"The 14 finalists of Kartina Mira Competition are talented artists who tell about their history and traditions through their art. Their works can be seen at the Tretyakov Gallery. These are sincere works that unite people, because art speaks a universal language that is close to everyone," said Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Sergey Pershin.
The International Competition for Young Artists Kartina Mira is held to support artists aged 18 to 35 and to involve them in creating works on socially significant topics. Another goal of the competition is to find new impulses for cultural exchange and the transmission of traditional values ​​through art.
"Kartina Mira Competition was organized to support talented young artists. Artists from different countries, different continents took part in it. They responded with enthusiasm to our call to create socially significant works of art connected with historical tradition, but directed to the future. It was important for us to support classical art education, academies, institutes, schools, lyceums, colleges. The world is changing rapidly,"Semyon Mikhailovsky, Co-Chairman of the Competition’s Creative Council, Rector of St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts named after Ilya Repin, comments on the results, "it is becoming more diverse. We saw interesting works by Russian participants representing national republics, regions; we felt the creative energy of artists from Asia and Africa. I am sure that Kartina Mira Competition will give them a new impetus for development, because it is an excellent platform for collaborations, demonstrating opportunities."
