The exhibition of 125 most famous and little-known works by Dutch artist Vincent Willem van Gogh keeps on going at the VEKARTA Gallery in Nizhny Novgorod.
During a rather short "creative life" (van Gogh devoted to painting 10 years only), the artist managed to become world-famous and enter forever into the history of the world art.
The exhibition reflects the peculiarities of the creative path and life values of the Dutch genius. In the halls of the gallery, you can see his Paris series, and also a series of paintings from Arles from the Sunflowers cycle of works.
The unusual Shoe series of paintings also attracts the viewer: the Dutch painter shows there the objects that are most habitual to us: worn-out shoes, while telling metaphorically about the hard life of ordinary people.

All 125 reproductions of van Gogh’s paintings in the exhibition are made in the giclée technique
It enables you to recreate masterpieces of famous artists on natural canvas, reflecting the features of the original as accurately as possible, on the reproductions you can even notice the hairs of the artist’s brush.
"Van Gogh has often been perceived as a "madman" because of his flamboyant and sometimes eccentric actions, but the exhibition demonstrates that his "madness" can be interpreted as a consequence of his deep sensitivity and extraordinary perception of the world. It encourages the audience to reflect on how thin the line between the concepts of "genius" and "madness" is in the field of art. This exhibition is not only a collection of paintings, but also a deep research work, which can cause strong emotions and reflections in all those who visit it", — Polina Zinchuk, painting artist, member of the Youth Creative Council of the International Competition Kartina Mira shared her opinion.
There are many ways to catch inspiration, and visiting exhibitions of great masters is a proven option.
The exposition of painting reproductions "Van Gogh. The Secrets of Genius and Madman" in Nizhny Novgorod shall continue until December 1, 2024.
