Acceptance of applications for the International Competition for Young Artists Kartina Mira has ended. 1447 original works created specifically for the competition were registered in three nominations — painting, graphics and digital art, computer graphics and animation. The Creative Council will have to determine which of the participants will advance to the next stage and will be one step closer to the opportunity to exhibit their work at the Tretyakov Gallery.
"It's a little exciting that we are finally moving on to the next stage of the competition. The works have been accepted, the registration of participants is completed. Now comes an important period for the jury, the Creative Council, — to choose, evaluate, see and support truly high-quality, deep and bright creations. The number of registered entries and the wide geography of participants confirm that we, the whole world, actually have much more points of contact, especially in the cultural aspect, than it seems at first glance. As part of the Global Values project, which was initiated by Innopraktika Company, we build an intercultural dialogue between representatives of different countries, expand the horizons of interaction between people, among others through the unifying power of art. And within the framework of this competition, we constantly emphasize that there are values that are shared by all people without exception," said Natalia Popova, First Deputy General Director of the Innopraktika Company.
The organizers note that the largest number of applications was registered in the painting category - 875. In the nomination of graphics there were 372 works, and 200 works in the nomination of digital art, computer graphics and animation.
"This competition will help make contemporary art not only more popular, but also more understandable, will give young artists the opportunity to make a name for themselves, and the modern spaces of the branch of the Tretyakov Gallery in Kaliningrad, which will show the works of the finalists, will make the exhibition large-scale and interesting. For the Tretyakov Gallery, one of the largest museums of national art in the country, it is important to participate in such projects in order to determine further prospects for working with the contemporary art community, to develop common approaches to the assessment of contemporary art," said Elena Pronicheva, General Director of the State Tretyakov Gallery.
A pleasant surprise for the organizing committee was the fact that the geography of the Kartina Mira participants turned out to be much wider than expected

The way of life, traditions and habits of the participants from these regions are completely different, but they all have one thing in common — the desire to comprehend the values of their national identity. Kartina Mira competition is a vivid example of how to unite diversity and maintain harmony. This approach, in my opinion, is very consonant with the spirit of our country," said Deputy Minister of Culture Sergey Pershin.
Semyon Mikhailovsky, Rector of St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts named after Ilya Repin, noted that Kartina Mira competition for young artists aroused great interest among the participants due to the combination of openness to new things with respect for traditions:
"As the organizers are sincerely interested in broad international participation and are open to discussing the most diverse works, demonstrating the capabilities of the authors, their special vision. We welcome free creativity, following traditions and searching for new forms. We are preparing for a worthy exhibition at the Kaliningrad branch of the famous Tretyakov Gallery. For artists, this is an honor and a privilege. We cannot fail to mention the inspiring support of the Innopraktika company, without which all our efforts would be in vain."
